Secrets of Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is by far the fastest way to get started making money online. Affiliate marketing means that all you do is send visitors to someone else’s website, they make the sale and deliver the product, and you get a percentage of the sale price as your commission, which for digital products can be 50% of more.

Here’s just a few benefits

  1. You can start almost instantly with no up-front costs and no need to develop a product, set up a website and sales page, develop the website, create marketing materials, or get a merchant account and CRM.
  2. There’s zero time investment on your part because the product owner does all the hard work of support, maintenance and billing.
  3. Your efforts are risk-free, because the product owner has already made sure the product sells. So you already know that the visitors you send will result in commissions for you.

Looking at these benefits, it’s clear that affiliate marketing is the way to go!

OK, but it’s not all rosy…

You work hard to send the traffic to the product owner’s website, but once you do that you will never see those visitors again. Most of them will not buy on their first visit, which means you’re losing over 90% of the traffic right off the top. And of the 10% or less that do buy, the product owner will be able to sell to them again, but you will not.

What’s the solution?

What you need to do is capture the contact info of your visitors before sending them to the product website. If you do that, you can contact them again and send them back the product website multiple times. This will increase the number of sales you make. And if you’re a super star affiliate, you’ll provide high-quality content before sending them to the product website.

Here’s why you want to implement these affiliate marketing strategies:

  1. You’ll be building your own list of potential customers that you can market to again and again.
  2. You’ll be warming them up by providing valuable information and then casually linking to the product sales page in the context of this information.

In order to set a system like this up, you will need the following affiliate marketing tools:

  1. A Video Squeeze Page (with video)
  2. Several high-quality content pages
  3. An email series with at least 5 high-quality content emails

You’ll use the squeeze page as the place to send your visitors instead of using the product website. It captures the name and email of your visitors and puts them into your autoresponder, which then begins sending out the 5-part email series. Then it redirects them to your content pages after they subscribe to your email series.

The content pages provide valuable information for your visitors and make them more receptive to the sales message that you’ll link to from inside the content. While they’re reading the content you’ve provided, your email system is already following up with them to send them back to the product website again and again.

There’s no doubt that it’s worth the effort to put a system like this in place, because doing so will increase your profits by 500% or more. And once it’s set up, it runs automatically – you just send visitors to the squeeze page, instead of the product website.

Setting it all up yourself requires some skill, and if you’re not up to it, you can use a service like Affiliate Silver Bullet. With a service like that, you don’t have to do anything. They make the video, build the squeeze page, write the email series, develop the content mini-site, etc. And then just give you a finished package. The benefit is that it’s much less expensive then you could do it yourself, and it’s instantly set up. One negative is that there will be other people using this same affiliate marketing system. However, the odds of you and them both finding the same visitor are so small, that it doesn’t really matter.

Alternatively, you can use a service like Elance to “outsource” each of these compnents. Whichever way you decided to go, it’s critical to get an affiliate marketing system like this in place, if you’re at all serious about your business.
